I am a true Canadian gal, and I used to be an Occupational Therapist, but I left that behind in 2011 to run away with a camera I bought on eBay and a dream. Several years later I am pleased to say that following my heart was the right decision. Not only am I doing something that makes me excited about Mondays, Ive been able to double my Occupational Therapy Salary doing what I love. Now over 100 weddings later, I want to teach you everything I learned so that you can accelerate pursuing your photography dreams!

week ONE: 
SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS

In week one, I welcome you with open arms, giving you massive high fives for enrolling and I orientate you to the course platform. I also introduce myself so that you can know a little bit more about the person you are about to spend the next 8 weeks with!

Here in week one you can download the entire course workbook in one fell swoop, incase you want to print it off and have it by your side. I will also be walking you through a goal setting exercise that will ensure you get the most out of this course and future goal setting endeavours. This week I also invite you to join our private facebook group where you can connect with other course enrolees where you can support and encourage one another.

In this lesson I encourage you to participate FULLY to ensure that you are getting the full value out of this investment in yourself. 

week two

week two: 
defining your brand

Defining your brand is the core of your business. Without ample consideration to defining your brand, you business will just blend into the abyss. From attracting your ideal clients to creating clear expectations, your brand will lay the foundation that everything else in your business will be built upon.

When an entrepreneur is getting started, I often see them getting hung up on creating the perfect logo, having the perfect font, or the perfect colour palette. They get so caught up in how it looks that they completely neglect to consider that forget that a brand is much more than that. Yes, the visual impact is important, but our brands extend far beyond the fonts and logos and websites. 

In week two we take a deep dive into refining your brand by considering it holistically and breaking it down for you in easy to follow steps and assignments.

week three

week three: 
LANDING YOUR DREAM CLIENTS

This week is all about ideal clients! By now you should have a bit of a handle on your brand, or at least how to consider the way it should make people feel, and the standards you will hold for it. Next it’s time to figure who exactly your audience is and how you are going to reach them. 

Most business owners, when they get started, want to sell everything they can to every person they can. And I get that, and it’s ok to do this in the early stages, I think everyone has to start there, but eventually this approach will fall flat. The sooner you can hone in on your photography or small business specialty, and more importantly who your specific target client is, the stronger and more effective your marketing efforts will be.

In week three we will discover how you will target and speak to your ideal clients. Or maybe in your business it’s your ideal follower, or your ideal customer, or your ideal reader, or your ideal listener.

week FOUR

week FOUR: 
communicating with CLIENTS

This week is all about being a super communicator, because being a super communicator is a surefire way to set you apart from your competition. And the beauty of it? It is not super difficult to achieve. There are many ways for us to connect with, and reach each other. As long as you are being consistent, diligent and asking the right questions at the right time, you are well on your way to achieving this!

If you can combine your industry knowledge with a little emotional intelligence, you will not only be one step ahead of your clients, you will really WOW them, and no, you can never wow your clients too many times!

In week four we will learn all about ways to be one step ahead and consistently WOW your clients. In this module I will also share with you my most frequently used email templates (including when to drop the client testimonial questionnaire) to maximize your workflow efficiency, save you precious time and brain space,

week FIVE

week FIVE: 
ALL THINGS SOCIAL MEDIA

By now you surely understand that your social media accounts should contain more than just a summary of your work. It should be a compilation of stories that summarize you and help to convey what you represent and be consistent with your overall brand. Social Media is a place where your clients want to get to know who you are and your followers want to learn from you, and support you and your family and friends want to connect with and see the real you. 

And here’s the thing, you and your business are not defined by how many followers you have or how much money you earn. So incase you want to know how to get your next ten thousand followers on instagram or how to grow your facebook audience, we aren't going to talk about that in this lesson because *REAL TALK* those things don't really matter. And here’s more truth, there is no secret formula or any one size fits all plans for growing your social media or for anything else for that matter. The secret of social media comes from connecting with the right people, and in owning your story. In this lesson, I will guide you to do just that!

week six

week six: 
PRICING FOR PROFIT

In week six it’s time to think about one of the main goals of your business: earning moula. The first step in determining what your prices should be is to decide how much money you would like to take home in the form of a pay cheque, the amount that is leftover after all of your expenses and taxes have been subtracted.

There are two methods that you can implement to land of what numbers will work best for you, and I recommend trying out both methods and compare your results.

In this lesson we will discuss business expenses, product pricing, photography packages, and considerations about your specific market. In this lesson I will also include a financial worksheet and I give you my super pretty pricing guide that includes LOADS of value to help you woo your potential customers!

week sEVEN

week SEVEN: 
eFFICIENCY AND WORKFLOW

Week seven is all about finding the inner Zen in your business, because BALANCE is such an important success factor.

In this lesson we will focus on streamlining, refining and cutting the fat to ensure that you aren't wasting a single second of your precious time and that you are focusing on the things that will drive you and your business forward and not getting hung up in the hullabaloo. 

One of the most important things that you will need to consider as you move forward in your entrepreneurial journey is balance. Some say it is a unicorn, but with a little attention to it, it isn't that difficult to achieve, and trust me, balance will ensure your success. So yes, I want to share with you some ways to work smarter instead of harder so that you can still find time to take in some netflix, a bath or a spa treatment, whatever thing it is that you need in your life to feel happy, successful, balanced and at peace.

week EIGHT

week EIGHT: 
website optimization

In this lesson I will share with you tips that you can implement to optimize your website (that you probably aren't doing!) and if you don't already have a website, consider this your guide for creating the best possible, most powerful marketing tool you can.

We will discuss what your website should contain, and we will break things like site mapping and search engine optimization down in a non techie way so that you can get the absolute most out of your site. 

In this lesson I will provide you with worksheets for optimizing your website, an SEO worksheet and a cheatsheet for writing the best possible 'About Me' page (hint, this is statistically the most clicked on page on a website and where most entrepreneurs seriously drop the ball!).

At the end of this lesson, you will have a website that works for you so that you can work a little bit less. :)

Q: How much time will I need to set aside to spend on the course and coursework each week?

Because this is a go-at-your-own-pace type of course, this will be different for everyone, however, I would recommend setting aside 1-2 hours each week to complete the course and course material. This will ensure that you complete the course in the amount of time it is intended to take.

A wise person once told me, if you wait until you are ready, it will never happen (well they were talking about marriage and having children and they were absolutely right - yes that's a whole other story). Q: Do I have to have a certain type of computer to complete the course work? Will I need to use the same computer each time?

This course can be accessed using any device with an internet connection. Immediately after purchase, you will be emailed your unique login information. The course can be accessed from your tablet or smartphone, and in my opinion, it is best enjoyed from the sofa, in your PJs, with a glass of wine.
